I’m so excited that I had the opportunity to study abroad for 1 month in Siena, Italy during the summer! The city is so beautiful, and the historic buildings are very different from what it’s like living in Thunder Bay. The food was amazing, and there was an amazing nearby pasta place that we liked to stop by after class. There was always something to do and lots to explore. I spent some time hiking, we did a day trip in Florence, and I even visited some family friends for a weekend in France!

The teachers were very kind and helpful to all of us who were learning a new language, the course structure was straightforward, and the textbook had helpful exercises. I appreciated the Pre-Departure Session from Lakehead International before my departure, and I felt very prepared to travel to Italy. It was really helpful watching a presentation from a previous student who had gone to Siena before as well. If you’re thinking of going to Siena to study Italian, I recommend participating lots in class discussions and going to every single class; that really helped my Italian get stronger!
