CULTURE NIGHTS
Throughout this Fall 2018 semester, all are welcome to join in on weekly gatherings at Simcoe Hall Campus. Gatherings include free food, activities, and special guests who share language, crafts, teachings and more.

POP UP INDIGENOUS RESOURCE CENTRE
All are welcome to drop in at the pop-up Indigenous Resource Centre to meet the Aboriginal Initiatives Orillia team, learn more about events, services, and resources.

 

ANNUAL SPECIAL EVENTS

BIINDIGEN! WELCOME GATHERING
All are welcome to celebrate the beginning of the school year with snacks and helpful information.

ORANGE SHIRT DAY
Every last week of September, Orange Shirt Day honours Residential School Survivors and reminds us of the ongoing legacy of the residential school system.

TREATY RECOGNITION WEEK
Every first week of November, Treaty Recognition Week is a time for all of us to learn more about treaties in a historical and contemporary context.

SEED STARTING
In February and March, all are welcome to help us care for the seeds and the seed library. Start seeds and learn how to grow your own food and medicines. 

LAKEHEAD SPRING DRUM SOCIAL
At the end of March, all are welcome to enjoy Indigenous food, music, dance, and cultural activities, co-hosted by the Lakehead University Students Union.

PLANTING CEREMONY
Each year in May, all are welcome to help us plant and care for the Medicine Wheel Garden, Three Sisters Garden (Led by Ambe Tigadaw Program), and Community Gardens area.
