Be Part of a Winning Faculty

Surround yourself with winning business students and take part in the annual business competitions in which we participate. Our Accounting Team competed against 14 other universities in the 10th annual GAAPS Competition (Gathering of Accounting Academics, Practitioners, and Students) and came out on top winning 1st place.

Program Overview

The first two years of the Commerce program at the Thunder Bay campus will provide you with a broad background in all the core business functions including Accounting, Finance, Human Resources Management and Marketing, to prepare you for the constantly changing business world. After second year, you will then choose to specialize in a particular area of interest to you. Majors include: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Human Resources Management, Information Systems, International Business and Marketing. Additionally, we are developing new programming in the area of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

At the Orillia campus, immerse yourself in a business education that also allows you to study the arts and sciences. Customize your degree to focus on a non-business area that can then lead you to the business world in that particular field.

In your final year of your business studies at Lakehead, for 8 months, you will work with corporations and your fellow classmates to solve real-life business problems and put your business skills to the ultimate challenge. After graduation, apply your knowledge and skills in exciting business careers or entrepreneurial pursuits.

Get Paid Work Experience

To gain a competitive advantage, you may also consider co-op where you can apply your innovative business education to the real world business environment. Co-op can be either 4, 8, 12 or 16 months in length. Visit our Co-operative Education Website for more information.
