Lakehead University's New Faculty Hires Bring Wealth of Talent and Experience to Classrooms

(October 9, 2007 - Thunder Bay, ON) Lakehead University's new faculty members at the Thunder Bay Campus have settled into their positions and are generating a lot of excitement among their students. The University has hired 29 full-time faculty and 5 term positions at its Thunder Bay campus.

"Our new faculty members bring a wealth of expertise and depth and breadth to Lakehead's existing roster, and we are delighted to have each of them join our academic community," says Dr. Laurie Hayes, Vice-President (Academic) and Provost.

New faculty members include:

? Master of Public Health Program: Drs. Lynn Martin and Elaine Wiersma
? Department of English: Dr. Douglas Hayes
? Department of History: Dr. Jane Nicholas, Michel Beaulieu, Dr. Kristin Burnett, and Dr. Geoff Read (term)
? Department of Political Science: Charles Conteh
? Department of Psychology: Dr. Rupert Klein
? Department of Women's Studies: Dr. Jennifer Roth

? Master of Environmental Studies: Dr. Martha Dowsley (Geography/Anthropology), to begin her appointment in December, 2007.
