Lakehead University, Orillia Campus, invites applications for a Contract Lecturer in the Department of Sustainability Sciences. Applications are requested to teach:

ENSU 3013 FAO – Field School I

Students will participate in a five to seven day excursion, or a series of day excursions, to examine ecological, socio-economic and cultural characteristics of the environment. Sites visited will vary depending on the central theme chosen for the course. The field component is followed by a classroom component involving identification and assessment of concepts, and issues, arising from the field excursion, oral presentations and discussions, and the submission of a research essay.

Please note:  this is a team taught course.

Start Date/Duration:   Fall Term: August 21 - December 31, 2026

     Friday 2:30 – 5:30 pm (September – December)

(Please note that this course starts late August with field trips and runs through the fall term.)

Qualifications Preferred

PhD in Environmental Science, Biology, or Geography with teaching/research

experience in the relevant area at the post-secondary level. Candidates lacking

the specific degree qualification (e.g., ABD doctoral students), but who possess

an appropriate combination of experience and other academic qualifications are

also encouraged to apply. Field based research/teaching experience in

Environmental Science, Biology, or Geography. Experience with experiential

learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired.

Compensation

In accordance with Collective Agreement provisions, Contract Lecturers shall be remunerated at one of the three following levels:

Level 1: $8,355 (per HCE)

Level 2: $8,590 (per HCE)

Level 3: $9,059 (per HCE)
