Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for a Contract Lecturer in the Faculty of Science & Environmental Studies. Applications are requested to teach:
GSCI 0251 FA - Basic General Science: Biological Sciences
An introduction to the Biological Sciences for students in the Indigenous Transition Year Program or the Indigenous STEM Access Program, from Western and Indigenous worldviews. The course includes lectures and experiential learning, such as outdoor classes, field trips, and use of resources housed in the department of Biology. Major concepts of biological science, skills and processes of scientific inquiry, and selected biological science topics will be covered. Course content may be adjusted to suit specific student needs.
This course is part of the program for Indigenous students in the Indigenous Transition Year Program and the Indigenous STEM Access Program.

GSCI 0252 WA - Basic General Science: Physical Sciences
An introduction to the Physical Sciences for students in the Indigenous Transition Year Program or the Indigenous STEM Access Program from Western and Indigenous worldviews. The course includes lectures and experiential learning, such as outdoor classes, field trips, and use of resources housed in the departments of Chemistry, Geology and Physics. Major concepts of physical science, skills and processes of scientific inquiry, and selected physical science topics will be covered. Course content may be adjusted to suit specific student needs.
This course is part of the program for Indigenous students preparing to teach elementary school in the Indigenous Teacher Education Program.

Winter Term: January - April 2026
Tuesday/Thursday 1:00pm - 2:30pm
Qualifications Preferred: PhD (preferred) with teaching experience at the university level in science. Candidates lacking the specific degree qualification, but who possess an appropriate combination of experience and other academic qualifications are also encouraged to apply. Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired.
Compensation
In accordance with Collective Agreement provisions, Contract Lecturers shall be remunerated at one of the three following levels:
Level 1: $8,355 (per HCE)
Level 2: $8,590 (per HCE)
Level 3: $9,059 (per HCE)
