Lakehead University one of Canada’s best kept secrets

January 23, 2017 – Thunder Bay, ON

The secret is out about Lakehead University.

Lakehead was recently included among an exclusive group of Canadian universities on a Huffington Post list of under-the-radar institutions that are considered our country’s best kept secrets.

“The Huffington Post article stated what thousands of alumni already know – that Lakehead is exceptional and unconventional,” said Lakehead President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Brian Stevenson.

Referred to as “the quintessentially Canadian university experience,” Lakehead’s campuses in Thunder Bay and Orillia offer elements that students won’t find in other schools – such as beauty, serenity, and small class sizes.

“Lakehead is a fully comprehensive and research-intensive university, meaning we have everything that larger universities have, but without the large classes. As the article says, at Lakehead our students are truly more than just a number,” Dr. Stevenson said.

Lakehead’s inclusion in the Huffington Post list of the country’s best kept secrets follows other, less-than-secret, accolades, such as being ranked Canada’s number one research university in its category for the second year in a row by Re$earch Infosource, and that more than 94% of our undergraduate students find employment within two years of graduation—higher than the provincial average.
