IDRC offers these research awards annually to Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, and citizens of developing countries pursuing master's or doctoral studies at a recognized university or having completed a master’s or doctoral program at a recognized university.

As a research award recipient, you will undertake a one-year paid program of research on the topic you submitted when competing for the award. During part of the time (often around 50%), you will be trained in research management through hands-on experience with your chosen program. You will be mentored by an IDRC staff member.

NeuroDevNet, a national Network of Centres of Excellence, is applying for a second round of funding from the Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) Canada program. They are inviting Letters of Intent (LOI) for Research Project and Core proposals, anticipating renewal for a second five-year term, extending from 2015-2019. In the event of a successful application, approximately $3.5 million per year will be available for research and service programs fundamental to the network. As part of the Network strategic plan, NeuroDevNet is seeking to expand their research activities in certain priority areas including a focus on therapeutic interventions, common co-morbidities across neurodevelopmental disorders, and novel data analytics that facilitate cross-project integration. Research project submissions should have translational capacity toward commercialization or social innovation, and present leveraged funding opportunities. New groups or individuals who have not previously received NeuroDevNet funding are particularly encouraged to apply, as are existing research teams currently supported in ASD, CP and FASD projects.

 Career Development Award

The Career Development Award supports independent, early-career investigators to conduct innovative research with the mentorship of an experienced cancer researcher (i.e., the Designated Collaborator) as an opportunity to obtain the funding, guidance, and experience necessary for productive, independent careers at the forefront of cancer research.

Idea Award with Special Focus

The PRCRP Idea Award with Special Focus mechanism is intended to support innovative, untested, high-risk/potentially high-reward concepts, theories, paradigms, and/or methods in cancer research that are directly relevant to service members, their families, and other military beneficiaries. The proposed research project should include a well-formulated, testable hypothesis based on strong scientific rationale and study design.

Idea Development Award

The Idea Development Award promotes new ideas that are still in the early stages of development and have the potential to yield impactful data and new avenues of investigation.

The intent of the LCRP Clinical Exploration Award (CEA) is to support early-phase, proof-ofprinciple clinical trials and correlative studies to investigate hypothesis-based, innovative interventions and/or avenues of research that have the potential to resolve current clinical barriers and result in a profound impact on the clinical management of lung cancer.

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Ministry of Rural Affairs is issuing a Call for Letters of Intent (LOI) for the Food Safety Research Program. The Program is an open, competitive research fund which enhances food safety in Ontario through innovative research. The program addresses the Ministries' Emergency Management Research Theme which seeks to lessen the frequency and impact of agri-food emergencies.
