FY13 Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP): Clinical Consortium Award

How to Apply:

The Clinical Consortium Award provides the support to develop and enhance collaborations and resources necessary for a network of organizations to rapidly execute Phase II or Phase II-linked Phase I (Phase I/II) prostate cancer clinical trials. These trials will include investigations of high-impact, novel therapeutic agents or approaches for the management or treatment of prostate cancer, especially as pertaining to the FY13 PCRP overarching challenges. Support from this award is directed toward consortium infrastructure needs rather than direct support of the research itself. In accordance with PCRP goals, the conduct of Phase I/II trials that incorporate investigations of biomarkers for risk assessment, early detection, prediction of aggressiveness, and/or progression of prostate cancer is particularly encouraged.

The principal goal of the Clinical Consortium Award is to combine the efforts of leading investigators to bring to market high-impact, novel therapeutic interventions that will ultimately and significantly decrease the impact of the disease. To facilitate global investigations, Principal Investigators (PIs) from both U.S. and international institutions are encouraged to apply. Submissions from institutions with enhanced access to patients from disproportionately affected populations are especially encouraged.

Research Project Grants

How to Apply:

Two types of grant are available:

Type A: Research Project Grants (2 years)

Applicants may request funds for up to two years. The grant period will be determined by the Foundation and specified in the letters of notification.  Even if the intent is to continue a line of work funded by the Foundation, applications for further support beyond the period of notification will be treated as new applications.

Individuals enrolled in a predoctoral training program are not eligible to apply for a Type A grant.

Type B: Research Project Grants (up to 4 years)

Principal investigators who have been funded by the Foundation for at least four consecutive years in a particular line of research at the time of application, and who can show the need to continue that line of research may apply for support for up to four additional years, through a type B grant.

Holders of a Type B grant will be expected to submit a satisfactory progress report to secure funding for the 3rd and 4th years of the type B grant.  The Foundation must receive the progress report by the September deadline which falls in the 2nd year of the grant. Prostate Cancer Research Program: Population Science Impact Award

How to Apply:

The Population Science Impact Award mechanism supports high-impact, population science approaches to prostate cancer research. Applications should clearly demonstrate the potential of the study to contribute significantly to the elimination of death from prostate cancer and/or enhancing the well-being of men experiencing the impact of the disease. As such, studies should address one of the PCRP overarching challenges, or, alternatively, justify the study as addressing another critical area in prostate cancer research.
