Biology Teaching Assistant Positions for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 - TBD

Updated May 26, 2026

The Biology Department on the Thunder Bay campus continuously monitors course enrolment and graduate student numbers.  Typically, undergraduate TAs are not required for biology courses on the Orillia or Barrie campus.

As graduate students are assigned their GA positions over the spring and early summer, remaining positions (TA/UGA) will be filled by undergraduate students (pending budget approvals).

Classes start the week of September 7, 2026.  TAs should be on campus and prepared to attend any in-person meetings before labs begin.  Some biology courses have labs the first week of classes!

UNDERGRADUATE ASSISTANTS (UGAs)

These are positions are only for Lakehead undergraduates.  We cannot hire graduate students for these roles.   Returning UGA applicants are given priority as per the collective agreement.

Scroll down for application instructions.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.  All lab sections are in-person only unless otherwise specified (e.g. FD1 or WD2, where D=distance)

Please note that all NEW BIOLOGY TAs are required to attend an in-person TA training session on Friday September 11, 2026 from 2:30-4:00 pm in CB3013.  If you are an undergraduate student with a conflicting class, please let us know ASAP and another time can be arranged.

For graduate students on both campuses, this training is part of BIOL5010FA/FAO and a Zoom link will be provided for OR students.

Courses TYPICALLY requiring undergraduates or part-time hires are listed below.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY UNTIL THE END OF JUNE WHEN THE GOOGLE FORM BECOMES AVAILABLE AND YOU HAVE YOUR UNDERGRADUATE CALENDAR AVAILABLE!  CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES.
