Food & Conference Services: Food & Conference Services is committed to ensuring all events on campus follow Government, Health Unit and Lakehead Senior Administration direction for the health, safety and comfort of all students, staff, faculty and guests in attendance. Following the recent announcement, Lakehead is maintaining mask and COVID-19 vaccination policies until at least the end of the winter term. The following procedures will be in place for events on campus: - Screening & Vaccine Passport (Lakehead Mobile Security); - Masks required at in person events or outdoors if social distancing is not possible; - During any food service including catered/buffet service events, guests should remain seated while actively eating. Masks are required when not at your table or not consuming food & beverage. Food Services Update Thunder Bay In compliance with the Government of Ontario's directive, all in-person dining areas on campus will now be required to screen patrons with the "Verify Ontario" Vaccine Passport and a Photo ID. In our Dining Halls where you opt to 'dine in', the on-site staff will be scanning your badge during the cashier process (Residence Cashier, Main Dining Hall Cashier, Subway, Orillia Dining Hall Cashier). We thank you for having this information on hand and for your patience during peak times when you may have a short wait time. Event & Conference Services Below are the Provincial changes as of Monday, January 31, 2022 for meetings, conferences, and event spaces.
We continue to have the ability to host limited 'table bookings' in our public areas (Agora, RC Lobby, Cafeteria Hallway). | January 31, 2022 - Update to Hours of Operation & Service Style |
Following the latest updates from our Provincial Government and University Administration, our Food Services outlets are prepared to reopen and resume dine-in operations on Monday, January 31, 2022 to our regular Hours of Operation and Welcome the University Community back to campus. Until January 31, we will continue with our modified operation and take out service. Meals will be delivered to any student required to self-isolate during the Winter 2022 term. More information will be provided should a student require this service. Until January 31st, a “take-out only” option is available. If you can not make a meal, did you know that you can talk to your Res Life house representatives about arranging for someone to "Grab your meal" for you? Meals around your exam time, if you are feeling unwell, and even on Dec. 20 if you will be staying later and want a lunch or dinner to go. | Vaccine Passport Requirements for Food Services |
Further to Reopening Ontario Act, starting today, those dining in with us will need to show proof of vaccination, along with valid ID to ensure that you are fully vaccinated before being seated. Those who do not have proper proof of vaccination and ID will be limited to takeout. For those who have a medical reason for not being vaccinated, an exemption note will be required. Those 11 years old or younger are exempt from these requirements. These measures have been introduced by the Ontario government to encourage people to get vaccinated and help minimize the spread of the virus amongst our communities. It is required by all Ontario restaurants offering dine-in to follow these measures. | Food and Conference Services Update: August 2021 |
| Please be advised that as Food and Conference Services works to rebuild its team and capacity to respond to pre-pandemic levels of requests for meetings and event spaces, and catering services, there will be limitations to what they can do in the short term. To accommodate Lakehead-related needs and requests as much as possible, Conference Services has put a hold on all external requests for space and services until September 20. This decision is in keeping with government recommendations and the current 30 per cent capacity limit within Lakehead's facilities. In terms of Food Services and requests, until further notice, buffets and self-service style food requests are not available. We thank you for your patience and understanding. |
| COVID Update: July 2021 |
| Hours of Operation and Food Service Style (Dine in or Take out) will be decided in August with the latest health unit regulations and may be subject to change with little notice depending on governmental or health unit recommendations. We will take into consideration student's schedules to ensure that the cafeteria is accessible to students during their regular school day. Our Food Services Team continually works with students' unique needs to ensure they have access to nutritious options for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, which may include pre-arranging pick up times for meals if they are outside of our service times. |
