Lakehead University representatives attended annual Anishnawbe Keeshigun events

Thanks to Lesley Ng of Fort William Historical Park for inviting Clarence Surette (President of the Thunder Bay Chapter of the Ontario Archaeological Society) and Jill Taylor-Hollings (President of the Ontario Archaeological Society), both from the Department of Anthropology at Lakehead University, to the annual Anishnawbe Keeshigun events August 19 and 20.

They did flintknapping and pottery workshops while park employees Liam Nicholls and Rowan Patterson demonstrated atlatl (spear) throwing with the visitors.

These events also provided a great opportunity to discuss the importance of archaeology in Northwestern Ontario.
