On Tuesday, November 29th, Lakehead University initiated its first-ever Giving Tuesday event, which officially kicks-off the giving season.

The University’s Social Media Champions did a tremendous job all day long sharing the message and encouraging others to support Lakehead’s students through an online or in-person gift – thank you!  A huge debt of gratitude is owed to Lakehead’s students, faculty, and staff.  The University, alumni, and civic leaders were so generous and we are most grateful.

In total, $19,684 was donated online, in-person and over the phone in support of Lakehead’s exceptional and unconventional students.  These gifts were generously matched by the Alumni Association for a combined total, to date, of $39,684.  Any gifts received by December 6th will be included in the Giving Tuesday total.

“I’m very grateful for this support of our hard-working students,” said Dr. Michel Beaulieu, Professor of History and Alumni Association President.  “Without the help of our dedicated alumni and many friends living across the country and beyond, we could not have achieved this amazing result.”

“The Alumni Association of Lakehead University has shown tremendous leadership with their matching gift on Giving Tuesday,” said Deb Comuzzi, Lakehead’s Vice-President External Relations. “On behalf of our students, who will benefit from these gifts, let me express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in our first ever Giving Tuesday initiative.”
