Maclean’s ranks Lakehead among Canada’s Top 10 universities, again

Maclean’s University Rankings have, once again, included Lakehead University among the country’s Top 10 primarily undergraduate universities. When compared to Ontario universities in its category, Lakehead places second overall.
Among Canada’s primarily undergraduate universities, the 2016 Maclean’s University Rankings place Lakehead number one in the category of total Research Dollars; second in the categories of Scholarships & Bursaries, and Social Sciences & Humanities grants; and third in the categories of Citations, and Library Acquisitions.
Among Ontario’s primarily undergraduate universities, the Rankings puts Lakehead in a tie for first place in the Library Expenses category; and second in the Student-to-Faculty Ratio, and Operating Budget categories.
“These rankings continue to demonstrate the strengths and exceptional opportunities our University provides its students and faculty,” said Lakehead President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Brian Stevenson. “We were very pleased to learn, just weeks after being named Canada’s number one undergraduate university for research funding, that Lakehead is considered to be one of the top ten places in the country to pursue your post-secondary education.”
Earlier this month, Re$earch Infosource placed Lakehead University first in Canada in the undergraduate university category of its annual Canada’s Top 50 Research Universities report.
Lakehead’s Provost and Vice-President (Academic), Dr. Moira McPherson, said the Maclean’s ranking is a good way to gauge how a university is doing as compared to its peers, and encourages prospective students, faculty, and staff to learn more about what post-secondary institutions can offer them.
“People from all over the world come to learn and work at Lakehead for all kinds of reasons,” Dr. McPherson added, “Including our small, personable class sizes, safe and beautiful living environment, and the opportunity to participate directly in groundbreaking research.”
