Tim Anderson

While a student in Lakehead University’s English Honours degree program recently, I was lucky to write for the Office of Communications through the SPARK program (Students Promoting Awareness of Research Knowledge). I have researched and written on disciplines as diverse as Geology, Law, Philosophy, and Microbiology; my writing has allowed me to meet and interview a number of celebrated researchers at Lakehead University. Though my studies were centred on the Social Sciences and Humanities, I possess the ability to quickly grasp different concepts—no matter what the faculty. I have edited research papers far beyond my level of understanding, providing grammatical and structural criticism. Now that I have transitioned from the academic world to an office environment in my work, I continue to exercise my critical skills by editing and composing communications and reports for my colleagues. I can provide advice in a number of areas, including style, structure, grammar, and suitability of writing for particular audiences. I am employed on LU’s campus, and am therefore able to meet with researchers quite easily.
