Energy Innovation Program – Methane Measurement and Mitigation Call for Proposals

How to Apply:

In support of Canada’s Methane Centre of Excellence, the Energy Innovation Program’s Methane Measurement and Mitigation Call responds to the urgent need to reduce methane emissions in this decade, alongside deep cuts in CO2, to achieve the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global temperature increases to 1.5oC above pre-industrial levels. It will invest in Canadian expertise to accelerate development of more effective knowledge and technologies for methane measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV), as well as the mitigation or elimination of methane emissions in Canada. The Call has two focus areas:

Measurement, Reporting and Verification

Funding to support the following:

Improved accuracy of detection, quantification, and localization of methane emissions in the oil and gas sector for effective design of mitigation solutions

Reduction of uncertainties in methane emissions measurement and quantification

Improved methods for the integration and/or standardization of multi-scale methane emissions data

Improved approaches for timely reporting of emissions data to track the performance of producers’ emission reduction initiatives and provide actionable information to stakeholders

Mitigation of Methane Slip

Funding to support the following:

Development of technologies that can be deployed at scale in the near term to mitigate fugitive unburned methane (methane slip) from non mobile combustion engines and related stationary systems in the energy sector

The ultimate goal of the Cystinosis Research Foundation is to find better treatments and a cure for cystinosis. Global calls for grant applications are made twice each year, in the spring and the fall. To be considered, research and fellowship applications must take into consideration the mission and goals of the foundation. The research and fellowship grants are awarded for 1-2 years.

Research Proposals  The Cystinosis Research Foundation is pleased to announce its Spring 2024 Call for Research Proposals and Fellowships. The Cystinosis Research Foundation is prepared to fund proposals to improve the immediate care of children and adults with cystinosis and to develop a new understanding and treatment of cystinosis to help these patients in the future.

Postdoctoral Fellowships The Cystinosis Research Foundation created a postdoctoral research fellowship program to attract qualified, promising investigators to establish careers in cystinosis research.  The fellow’s stipend should be the usual amount for such a trainee at the given applicant’s institution.  The total award cannot exceed $75,000 per year including overhead.  Awards will generally be for a period of 1-2 years.

2024 Research Grants

How to Apply:

About these Grants

ASPCA research grants develop cutting-edge knowledge in animal welfare. We fund high-quality research across a variety of disciplines and methods that has clear potential to benefit animals, either directly or through effecting systems-level change. Proposals to extend studies focused on other disciplines to include animal welfare will also be considered if they can be clearly demonstrated to have substantial potential benefit to animals.

THIS YEAR WE ARE SOLICITING PROPOSALS IN THE FOLLOWING FIVE RESEARCH AREAS:

Cruelty Research: Proposals that address animal cruelty from any angle or relevant discipline (e.g., public policy, law, criminal justice, criminology, veterinary forensics, community engagement, prevention/intervention, human behavior change). Of particular interest is research that analyzes the effectiveness of legislative and other policy measures designed to prevent and/or respond to cruelty. Also of interest is research that heightens awareness of animal cruelty and builds knowledge that informs and engages key community stakeholders and allied professionals in preventing and responding to this animal welfare issue.

Access to Veterinary Care (AVC) Research: Proposals that address AVC from any angle (e.g., medical, legal, AVC impact, program delivery, community engagement, veterinary engagement). Ideally, the research will establish tools or guidelines to improve access to veterinary care.

Applied Behavior Research: Proposals that inform the development or refinement of evidence-based shelter behavior protocols. Proposed research should address specific behavior concerns in shelter populations that lead to euthanasia, rather than general management protocols.

Psychological Trauma Research: Proposals related to developing novel approaches to the documentation of animal cruelty and neglect in the absence of physical trauma. Proposals are encouraged from any relevant discipline (e.g. physiology, psychology, ethology). Of particular interest is research that focuses on objective measures, including biomarkers and quantitative behavioral phenotyping.

Farm Animal Welfare Research: Research related to animal welfare conditions in the largest U.S. poultry industries that produce broiler chickens, egg-laying hens, and turkeys.
