Researchers are invited to submit proposals for investigator-led research to enhance military training through immersive technologies. These should specifically focus on the development and evaluation of virtual scenarios for personnel confronting moral-ethical dilemmas in military operations, aiming to improve readiness and moral resilience.

SSHRC and UK Research and Innovation’s Arts and Humanities Research Council invite researchers to submit expressions of interest to participate in a humanities-led, interdisciplinary research “sandpit” (a facilitated, collaborative process through which new research teams and project ideas are developed and selected for funding) to put humanities insights and methodologies at the heart of artificial intelligence tech design.

The funding Call for projects Canada from the Biocodex Microbiota Foundation (BMF) supports early-career researchers working on the microbiome in human health and diseases. Studies in translational animal models are encouraged. The grant is intended as a seeding or bridging grant to help investigators initiate a project to become independent.

Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, and/or equivalent degree for no more than 7 years, and must be full-time faculty or equivalent position at an institution in Canada by the start date of this award.

The award provides 50,000 CAD over 1 to 2 years, including up to 10% indirect costs.

The objectives of the Team Grants: Health Effects of Ultra-Processed Foods funding opportunity are to fund new interdisciplinary research that will generate evidence on the health impacts of UPFs to inform policies and regulations that will improve health equity and the health of Canadians across the lifespan by:

• Investigating the biological mechanisms through which UPFs as a whole or their specific components contribute to the development and progression of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) at different ages and life stages and/or lead to accelerated biological aging with onset of frailty and cognitive decline. 
• Understanding the structural determinants of UPF production, distribution, regulation and consumption in Canada and globally and their inequitable impacts on population health.

Note that applicants will not be required to meet both objectives in their respective application.

This funding opportunity involves the investigation of the potential use of advanced finite element model of the head and brain for the monitoring of repeated sub-concussive exposures to blast, impact, and inertial loads.

Researchers are invited to apply for a new funding opportunity which invites investigator-led proposals to conduct an environmental scan to evaluate the role of self-compassion in mitigating moral injury and to assess the effectiveness of self-compassion training within the CAF. This research may inform future training strategies aimed at enhancing resilience and mental health among military personnel.

Researchers are invited to apply for a new grant funding opportunity sponsored by Canadian Forces Health Services (CFHS) Women and Diversity Health program (WDH) to conduct a study exploring approaches to optimize knowledge translation on equity-related health care policies and programs within the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). This project includes the development of a recommended communication and education strategy, approach, or framework for CFHS to utilize as needed.

Historically, opposition to equity-informed policies and programs has been shaped by perceptions of threat and reverse discrimination. This provides an opportunity for the improvement of communication strategies and educational interventions to support understanding, acceptance, and application of evidence-based health care for all members of the CAF. This project will explore opportunities for optimization of change management through communication and education by examining and identifying factors that influence perception and adoption within health care and military operational and planning environments.

Researchers are invited to apply for a new grant funding opportunity sponsored by Canadian Forces Health Services (CFHS) Women and Diversity Health program (WDH) regarding the impact of obesity in women and members with diverse identity factors in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). This research will enable WDH to better understand the operational and health impacts of obesity in these equity-deserving populations, along with the potential impact of medical management, either pharmacological or surgical, or both. This research will be carried out in three distinct sub-component Projects, to address the large number of research questions and objectives, as described below. The funds may be allocated to one or more research teams, based on the proposals received.
