NSERC Information Session/Webinar
This session will include news and updates from NSERC, as well as tips on applying for a Discovery Grant.

Please note that there will be a SSHRC Insight Grant information session on September 10, 2015 in AT3004 from 10-11:30. The session will be presented by Office of Research Services staff along with Dr. Tamara Varney, a Lakehead University faculty member with grant selection committee experience. The session will provide an overview of the SSHRC Insight Grant program along with insights about the grant review process.

Lakehead University faculty members planning to apply for a Ministry of Research and Innovation (MRI) Ontario Research Fund Research Excellence (ORF-RE) Grant in this year's competition are invited to attend an information session on July 21 from 9:30-11:30 in ATAC 5035 (Orlllia faculty members may participate in OA 2005). The session will be presented by Dawn Edmonds, Senior Policy Adviser, Research Branch, Ministry of Research and Innovation.

CCV/Research Portal Workshop for Researchers

In order to help faculty members submitting grants that require use of the NSERC/SSHRC Research Portal as well as a Canadian Common CV (CCV) (e.g., SSHRC Insight, Insight Development, NSERC Discovery Grants), Research Services is offering a special workshop on June 18 in AT3004 from 10-12. Andrew Hacquoil, Research Grants Officer, and Andrew Friesen, SSHRC Research Facilitator, will provide an overview of the following:
1. Accessing the Research Portal
2. Completing the Common CV.
3. Linking your Common CV to a grant application.
Faculty members interested in attending the workshop are asked to please send an e-mail to Andrew Hacquoil (ahacquo1@lakeheadu.ca) no later than June 15.
Lakehead University faculty members planning to apply for a Ministry of Research and Innovation (MRI) Early Researcher Award in this year's competition are invited to attend an ERA information session on June 11 from 9:30-12:00 in AT5035. The first part of the session will involve information provided via video conference by an MRI representative. This will be followed by a discussion led by Dr. Peter Hollings, Department of Geology. Dr. Hollings has served on a ERA review committee and will therefore be able to provide insights on the review process and what makes for an effective application.

SSHRC Partnership Development Grant Information Session - Thursday, June 11
If your research is in social sciences and/or humanities, you might want to attend this meeting.
Research Services is holding an information session on the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant competition.
This grant develops research and related activities in social sciences and humanities, including knowledge mobilization and the meaningful involvement of students and new scholars. It fosters new partnerships for research and related activities involving existing and/or potential partners.
Date: Thursday, June 11
Time: 10 am to 12 pm
Location: AT3004 and OA2005
This session will feature an overview of the grant application as well as application procedures.
Faculty are eligible for this grant.
Anyone considering submitting a Partnership Development Grant in November is especially encouraged to attend as it is recommended researchers begin their applications at least six months prior to the deadline.
