Grad Student Joel Lipinski

Joel Lipinski

Joel is a first-year course-based MSc student from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He has been a coach in the strength and conditioning field for over 12 years. He owns Ignite Athletics inc, he is also the Head Strength Coach for Football Canada and the University of Saskatchewan Football team. Outside of work/school he is a father of two young boys.
Grad student Meghan Peters

Meghan Peters

Meghan Peters is a first-year course based masters student from Orangeville, Ontario. She has just recently completed her Honors Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics from the University of Guelph. Throughout her undergraduate degree Meghan volunteered as a student athletic therapist and enjoyed applying the concepts she learned in class to the athletes in her care. She wanted to learn more about research and the clinical aspects of Kinesiology and this led her to choose Lakehead's course based masters program. Outside of school you can find Meghan in the fitness center, teaching dance, or out and about trying a new coffee shop!

Hailey Fournier

Hailey Fournier is a first-year Course-based Master of Science in Kinesiology student. With interest in the human body and its movement, she chose to enter into the field of Kinesiology in 2018 and graduated from the Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology program in 2023 here at Lakehead University. Hailey is now pursuing her master’s in hopes of having a career as a kinesiologist and as a mental performance coach. Originating from Ottawa, ON, Hailey hopes to combine her interests in both physical and mental rehabilitation to strive to help individuals achieve their personal desires and goals either through optimal performance and/or during recovery. Outside of academics, Hailey is a figure skating coach and instructor at her local skating club, coaching CanSkate as well as off-ice training, specializing in jump technique for multiple levels. In her spare time, she enjoys staying active, reading books, watching Ottawa Senators games and spending time with her friends and family. 
Grad Student Lorenzo Gonzales

Lorenzo Gonzales

Lorenzo is a first-year course-based Kinesiology graduate student. He worked as a licensed physiotherapist in the Philippines for a year and also involved himself in multiple medical missions before deciding to pursue postgraduate studies. He is committed to gaining more valuable knowledge in order to deliver better healthcare to his clients. His research interests include inter-professional rehabilitation, outcome measurement tools, and sports science. Lorenzo's personal interests include reading, creating music, and competing at sporting events.   
Grad Student Kara Crumb

Kara Crumb

Kara is a 1st year course based Master's student from Oakwood, Ontario. She pursued her Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and graduated with First Class Standing in 2021. Since graduating, Kara has gone on to successfully write the College of Kinesiology of Ontario entry to practice exam. Kara now works as a personal trainer at a gym in Uxbridge, Ontario and as a PTA doing at-home physiotherapy for clients all across Southern Ontario. Kara works with mostly older women and beginners, helping them work towards their own unique fitness goals. Kara decided to enroll in the course based Master's program to further her professional and practical knowledge in hopes of one day opening her own practice. The remote option provides her with the unique opportunity to continue working in Southern Ontario while gaining valuable, career elevating skills. Kara enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, reading, and listening to music in her spare time.

Irena Grusecki

Irena is a first-year course-based MSc student from Simcoe County, Ontario. She completed an Honours BA in Linguistics from McMaster University in 2014, where she was an undergraduate research assistant The Center for Advanced Research in Experimental and Applied Linguistics (ARiEAL), participating in eye tracking data collection for reading and memory studies. Following this, she completed the Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) postgraduate program at Georgian College in 2015.Irena holds nearly a decade of experience in the provision of rehabilitative services for communicative disorders in adaptive technology for alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), language and motor speech development, and acquired brain injuries. Irena is a Placement Monitor for Georgian College CDA students and uses her experience to support student success in field placements.Irena looks forward to continuing her education at Lakehead, and progressing her career pursuits toward case management and leadership opportunities.In her free time, Irena enjoys travelling and spending time outdoors with her family.
