Launch of Ron Harpelle's New Film
History
Professor Ron Harpelle's latest film Pulp Friction: People, Places and the
Global Economy will premiere on Thursday, Dec. 11 at Docs on Bay.
Pulp Friction
is an examination of the intersection of globalization and community in Terrace
Bay, Ontario, Kemijärvi, Finland and Fray Bentos, Uruguay. The film focuses on
the challenges of communities with a dependence on a single industry as the
economic mainstay and on the impact of the global markets on the lives of
people at opposite ends of the earth.
The film
will be followed by a discussion with Gino Leblanc, Terrace Bay Town Councillor
and Mill Employee for 33 Years.
Docs on
Bay is a monthly screening series of award-winning documentaries. Tickets are
$8 or pay what you can.
