Catalyst Grant: Methods in Post-Market Drug Safety and Effectiveness Research
The aim of these CIHR Catalyst Grants is to provide seed money, on a short-term basis, to support capacity building in specific health research areas.
Within the framework of the Catalyst Grant program objectives, the specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:
- Promote and increase capacity in innovative and cost-effective trial designs.
- Stimulate researchers from various backgrounds to explore new methodologies.
Examples of activities that might be conducted under this Funding Opportunity (but are not restricted to) are:
- Planning and execution of pilot projects or feasibility studies to generate preliminary data, proof of concept.
- Development and/or validation of new tools, methodologies and/or protocols.
- Develop critical steps in the research needed to deliver research results.
More specifically, this funding opportunity will address post-market drug safety and effectiveness research using each of the following methodologies through the following funding pools:
- Registry-randomized trials
- Direct patient reporting of post-market outcomes
- Bayesian methods and statistical models
