The ASARP Consortium Award will support the establishment of a Consortium that includes collaborations of multiple organizations and individuals for the purpose of identifying promising compounds with the goal of translating basic science knowledge into enhanced clinical pharmacological treatment protocols for alcohol and substance use disorders. The Consortium will ultimately consist of a single Management Core as well as basic research and clinical trial sites.

The TAC Foundation's primary focus for educational support (scholarships) is on the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance and program management of transportation infrastructure, including urban transit.

For the purpose of this Call for Concepts (CFC), eligible projects will develop, test and evaluate innovative training models that will support Canadians to improve their literacy and essential skills (LES) to get and keep a job, and adapt and succeed at work. To support workers to be better prepared to meet on-the-job demands, projects will engage employers through the development of models targeted to specific industry or occupations that will be of national significance (see below for definitions). Successful applicants will be invited to submit full proposals.

Concept Papers must fall under one of the following Innovative Training Models:

• Expansion of a proven LES model: this would include models that have been successfully applied within Canada or outside of Canada that could be replicated in a different region or with a different target audience and/or increased in scale;
• Integration of LES into other programs: application of LES into an existing employment and/or training program; or
• New LES model: development and testing of new approaches with the potential to improve labour market outcomes for Canadians.

Career Development Awards in Prevention have been created to establish or maintain the career development of post-doctoral fellows, clinical fellows or junior investigators in the area of cancer prevention/risk reduction research and community-based clinical research in cancer prevention by providing protected research time and research funds. Applications are invited from researchers in the fields of social/psychosocial and behavioural science, health policy, population health, health promotion, health services, cancer etiology, health economics and genetics aimed at improving cancer prevention.

The goal of this program is to provide salary and research support during the early years of a developing career for cancer prevention researchers. The program is designed to support researchers whose work has the potential for high impact within the domain of prevention/risk reduction research.

Applications must include the commitment of a supervisor/mentor who will work with the applicant over the term of the award. In addition, the Host Institution must be prepared to make a commitment as described below.

The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is the largest non-government, donor-supported organization that distributes funds for psychiatric brain and behavior disorder research. The Foundation’s NARSAD Young Investigator Grant (YI) program offers up to $35,000 a year for up to two (2) years to enable promising investigators to either extend their research fellowship training or to begin careers as independent research faculty.

The program is intended to facilitate innovative research opportunities and supports basic, as well as translational and/or clinical investigators. All research must be relevant to our understanding, treatment and prevention of serious psychiatric disorders such as: schizophrenia; bipolar; mood and anxiety disorders; or early onset brain and behavior disorders.

The purpose of the Allied Health Scholarship award is to assist the student with a demonstrated interest in nephrology/organ donation in pursuing education at the Masters level to promote and enhance the development of nephrology allied health investigators in Canada.

The primary objective of this National hepatitis C Collaborative Network is to create a cohesive, collaborative research program in Canada that links researchers, knowledge users and decision makers from multiple pillars and jurisdictions across the country.

Secondary objectives include:

• Strengthening interactions and cooperation across the hepatitis C research community, through the creation of a defined research infrastructure.
• Creating a continuous research pipeline which links research across all pillars (biomedical, clinical, health services and population health) to facilitate the timely application of new knowledge and research results.
• Supporting models of integrated knowledge translation and exchange that accelerate the uptake of knowledge and the implementation of evidence-informed practices, policies and programs.
• Improving the environment for health services and public health researchers, to enable researchers in various regions across Canada to collaboratively and efficiently conduct innovative hepatitis C-related research.
• Providing an exceptional, interdisciplinary training and mentoring environment to increase research capacity in the field of hepatitis C.
• Ensuring the active and meaningful engagement of stakeholders and partners in the research program.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:

• To stimulate and support multidisciplinary research that brings together biological, social (i.e. biosocial) and environmental considerations to contribute new knowledge and innovative approaches regarding implications of DOHaD for men, women, boys and girls.
• To build research capacity and nurture the next generation of researchers by supporting teams that actively engages trainees and new investigators (including researchers new to the topic).
• To foster and support the ethical translation and appropriate uptake of new knowledge through interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaborations among researchers, clinicians, knowledge-/ end-users, and policy decision-makers.

A KRESCENT program Post-Doctoral Fellowship is an “in-training” award intended for applicants with a PhD, MD or equivalent degree. The objective is to attract and foster young investigators to initiate and/or continue training in kidney research.

An awardee may not be in receipt of another major personnel award at the same time as holding the Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the KRESCENT program. However, the KRESCENT program will consider approving supplemental funding if a minor stipend has been provided from a local or provincial funding agency.
