Dissertation: PhD in Health Sciences Program
Applicants to the PhD in Health Sciences program must indicate their area of interest for a dissertation when applying to the program. Admittance to the PhD in Health Sciences program is dependent on faculty availability from among full-time faculty of the Department of Health Sciences.
About the Dissertation
The dissertation is equivalent to eight half-courses (4.0 FCEs).
The PhD dissertation, through its emphasis on the development of research and dissemination skills, will embody the elements required for the successful development of a research program. Students will largely work independently and will be expected to have hands-on learning opportunities and one-on-one contact with their Dissertation Supervisor. The students will be mentored by successful researchers and provided with multiple opportunities to develop the essential skills to function independently in a research function.
Students must register in the placeholder course section (HESC 9900) once they have begun to work on, and as they are completing their thesis. Students must have continuous registration in the placeholder course in each term until program completion.
