This online event will address any of your questions and provide you with vital information about some of the necessary preparation you will need to complete throughout the summer months, before the first day of classes on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025. This event is intended for Year 1 students starting the Bachelor of Education (P/J) program in September 2025.

During this event, you will receive important information on the following topics:

• The compulsory Math Competency Assessment for all BEd students
• The planning/preparation and expectations associated with your teaching placements
• Information on your class schedule and the registration process in the 2 Year BEd Program

They will speak about their transition to this country, the challenges they faced, and success celebrated since arriving here. We will end the session with a Q&A and our guests will take questions from the audience.

The Lakehead Town & Gown brings Orillia faculty together with members of the surrounding community. Meetings occur monthly to discuss topics of broad interest—such as AI, education, loneliness, and citizenship—and have easy but engaged conversation. The group is co-run by Ryan McVeigh, Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies, and Anderson Charters, retired publisher and champion of Lakehead’s Orillia campus.
