Scott Bradley is the Executive Director of the Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society, having served in that role since January 2020. In this role he oversees the Museum’s daily operations, and together with a Board of Directors sets policy and strategic direction for the Museum. Prior to this Scott served as a curator and project manager at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio for over 16 years.

Research Interests:

Scott also studies and teaches on hazardous materials and risk mitigation within museum artifact collections.  He has given lectures to many conferences and university lectures on the subject promoting a cautious and knowledge based approach to evaluating handling, conservation, and preservation issues with industrial and consumer products that were designed before rigid safety standards we expect now were in place.

Scott also has extensive knowledge on aviation based munitions and firearms from his previous experience managing those collections in a museum context.  Primary concerns centered around safety and security and secondarily the identification of rare and obscure types.

Mr. Bradley is a longtime medieval reenactor with the Society for Creative Anachronism.  He got started with the SCA in the spring of 2000.  The SCA is a worldwide non-profit educational organization dedicated to experimental archaeology.  He participates in full armoured western martial arts, archery, sewing, cooking, brewing, leatherworking, and many other crafts.  Much of his research and knowledge is centered around 15th century Wallachia and the surrounding region.  For his fighting proficiency Mr. Bradley has been recognized in the organization with the rank of Knight in the Order of Chivalry.
