Integration of Information and Computer Technology in Instruction Part 2

This course further exposes educators to the uses of computers in education. Themes include the following:

  • Designing educational software
  • Implementing the computer in the school
  • Teaching with the aid of a computer

The course draws examples from a variety of subject areas in both the elementary and secondary panels. This course emphasizes the use of the computer in the classroom rather than computer programming skills. The practical activities form an integral part of this course.

Integration of Information and Computer Technology in Instruction Part 1

This course provides an overview of the uses of computers in education. The course's central themes relate to teaching about computers and teaching with the aid of a computer. The course draws examples from a variety of subject areas in both the elementary and secondary panels. The practical activities form an integral part of this course.

Junior Curriculum and Instruction (Junior ABQ)

A course specifically designed for certificated teachers in any but the junior division. This course analyzes human development theories, curricular policies and guidelines, and teaching strategies and practices in major curricular areas, as they apply to the junior division. Meaningful applications are expected in appropriate settings.

Kindergarten Part 2

This course will build on the knowledge and skills gained in Kindergarten Part I. Students will explore curriculum and program development in greater depth as well as examine effective implementation strategies for the Kindergarten program.

Kindergarten Part 1

This course provides an examination of the knowledge and skills required for the delivery of the Kindergarten program. The course emphasizes the theoretical foundations of Kindergarten education within the context of global and diverse communities, in addition to the development of effective play-based learning environments to support the early learner.

Reading Part 2

This course provides an in-depth study of literacy development, K-13. This course emphasizes the perceptual, cognitive, psycholinguistic, and linguistic processes involved in both reading and writing. The course also examines the differentiation of teaching-learning strategies in a developmental reading program to meet the needs of the high- and low-achieving student.

Reading Part 1

This course is for the professional development of teachers in reading education. A study of the cognitive and linguistic process involved in reading comprehension and word identification will serve as the basis for the examination of the developmental continuum in reading acquisition, development, and refinement.

French as a Second Language Part 2

This course provides a comprehensive and detailed study of methods used for the teaching of French in Ontario. The course introduces the theory of applied linguistics upon which audio-lingual methods are based.

French as a Second Language Part 1

This course introduces students to the methods used currently for the teaching of French in English-speaking Ontario schools. The course stresses audio-visual techniques and the oral-aural approach. Through a structural review, a systematic effort is made to improve students' fluency in spoken French and their accuracy in the written form.
