Teacher Leadership, Part 1

Teacher Leadership, Part 1 provides candidates with the opportunity to gain knowledge about the forms of leadership, qualities of leadership and ways that leadership are portrayed within the school community. The course supports the expectations outlined in the Ministry of Education curriculum policy documents and other Ministry of Education policies. This course will be of interest to all teachers who are interested in acquiring the basic knowledge necessary to enhance their understanding and
professional journey of teacher leadership.

First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Studies Specialist

This series of courses aims to utilize critical pedagogy to explore the multiple facets of teaching and learning in a holistic manner. Developed in collaboration with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) community members, the three courses in this series are intended to recognize and honour the rich cultural history of these groups, in relation to the Canadian educational context.

Mathematics Primary & Junior (P/J) Education Part 1 - TBDCSB

This course provides you with the knowledge and skills to create a dynamic community of mathematicians in your classroom. By completing this course, you will be able to broaden your understanding of mathematical concepts and their development so that you can determine your students’ abilities and then design lessons to meet their needs.

This course is open to TBCDSB Teachers Grades 1-4 only.

System Leadership Perspective (SOQP Module 4)

In this module, candidates acquire and consolidate knowledge of policy governance,
systems thinking and provincial and district vision as the foundation for building
relationships and developing human resource capacity for realizing system goals. The
focus is on understanding the supervisory officer’s role in the design and
implementation of the strategic plan and organizational culture.

Leadership and Organizational Change Perspective (SOQP Module 2)

In this module, candidates integrate theory and practice as it relates to creating system
coherence, leading the instructional program, building staff capacity for evidence informed
decision-making, providing job-embedded professional learning and
nurturing productive working relationships with staff and stakeholders. The focus is
on understanding leadership and management from a system perspective.
