The Vancouver Whistler 2025 hybrid winter Invictus Games offer a unique opportunity to make a further, significant contribution to the research legacy of the Invictus Games by examining the impact of an outdoor sport setting versus an indoor setting, coupled with a degree of controlled exposure to risk (adventure sports) on injured military and Veterans and their families and caregivers. These Games lend themselves to the evaluation of several emerging trends in sports recovery, physical activity, and adventure therapy by optimizing the acute and chronic benefits associated with participating in a wider range of activities for competitors. In particular, we are keen to understand the specific impacts of the first ever Invictus Games in a winter environment, which in turn can inform future programming decisions in Canada and across other nations.
