Heart & Stroke, alongside 11 major research funders around the world, is inviting researchers to compete in a new research challenge that aims to transform the landscape of women’s cardiovascular health.

Taking strides to better understand and improve women’s cardiovascular health around the world, the International Research Challenge on Women’s Cardiovascular Health will fund a world-class international research program for up to US $10 million over five years.

The grant will be awarded by the Global Cardiovascular Research Funders Forum (GCRFF) – an international alliance of 12 major funders of cardiovascular research across the world – to address areas of unmet clinical need within women’s cardiovascular health. This is the first significant joint investment from the GCRFF to support research on the international stage.

If you are an early to mid-career health professional, educator, academic or clinician of any health-related discipline (e.g., law, ethics), seize the opportunity to explore and lead transformation by deepening our understanding of the various aspects of compassion through the lens of technology to better ensure that technologies are enabling of healthcare’s compassionate purpose.  Highly qualified individuals (PhD or Master’s degree), can participate in this program is designed to support projects that will generate new knowledge and evidence to advance the education/training of undergraduate, graduate and practising healthcare professionals, and/or support knowledge translation.

For the 2024 call, the focus of the program is being expanded to also include health human resources and the future of technology enabled work as core components to understand compassion, and digital and artificial technology.

If you are early to mid-career, have a PhD or a Master’s degree, you can apply to become a Fellow in this field. Study ways to integrate modern technology and compassionate care, so you can shape the delivery of health care services, education of health professionals as well as facilitating the leadership needed to realize the promise of technology. This program required a supervisor and a mentor located at a Canadian institution.

Through the Institute Community Support (ICS) Program, the CIHR Institutes and Initiatives are launching the ICS Travel Awards competition for students, postdoctoral fellows, early career researchers and knowledge users to present their own research at national and international meetings, workshops, and/or conferences.

CCS Workplace Cancer Research Grants are available to support game-changing cancer research that will uncover new knowledge and fill existing gaps to drive risk-reduction and cancer prevention efforts for workers in Canada.

This program is a unique opportunity for cancer researchers to combine forces with researchers in neurofibromatosis and other relevant fields and disciplines to accelerate our understanding of the genomic and molecular drivers of cancer in NF1. The ultimate goal is to discover interventions to prevent cancer developing, or to enable diagnosis at the earliest possible time when treatments are likely to be more effective. In addition, projects focused on disease management and appropriate patient care, including the integration of clinical, translational, and technological innovations are strongly encouraged.
