Background 

Through the Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme, NATO has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to science, innovation and practical cooperation with Partners. Among the SPS Key Priorities, “Security-related Advanced Technologies” represent the core of SPS activities in the field of science and technology, and the main instrument to allow researchers from NATO and Partner nations to maintain the technological edge and to stay at the forefront of knowledge. In order to address the challenges and opportunities raised by innovative and disruptive technologies, the SPS Programme is launching a “Special Call for Proposals on Security-related Advanced Technologies” to enhance the SPS portfolio in a number of areas:

• Data science and Artificial Intelligence

• Communication systems

• Material science

• Sensors and detectors

• Autonomy and counter-autonomy

• Technological convergence

Each year the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH) recognizes 7 Canadians whose work has helped to advance the mental health agenda across the country. These remarkable people are recognized at our annual Champions of Mental Health Awards Gala.

This year, nominations will be accepted in the following categories:

1. The Sharon Johnston Champion of Mental Health Award for Youth – Any Canadian 21 and younger who has shown leadership in his or her community in promoting mental health and/or mental illness awareness, or any organization dedicated to providing services for youth
2. Media – Any media personality or outlet who has contributed to public awareness of mental health or mental illness awareness
3. Workplace Mental Health – Any employer or employee who has contributed to creating a mentally healthy workplace for staff
4. Community Organization – Any organization that has provided great public service to community members experiencing mental illness
5. Community Individual – Any person, who through personal commitment, has increased awareness about mental illness or reduced stigma in his or her community
6. Parliamentarian – Any provincial, territorial, or federal Parliamentarian who has advanced the mental health agenda in Canada
7. Innovation – Researcher or Clinician – An innovative person or organization that through their work has advanced the mental health agenda in Canada

Hunt Postdoctoral Fellowships support the writing-up of already completed research. The fellowship is awarded to scholars in the earlier stages of their careers, when they frequently lack the time and resources to develop their research for publication.  Scholars with a Ph.D. in hand for no more than ten years (from the application deadline) are eligible to apply. A maximum of eight Hunt Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded annually.

By providing funds for scholars to devote themselves full-time to writing, the Foundation aims to enable a new generation of scholars to publish significant works that will impact the development of anthropology. The program contributes to the Foundation's overall mission to support basic research in anthropology and to ensure that the discipline continues to be a source of vibrant and significant work that furthers our understanding of humanity's cultural and biological origins, development, and variation. The Foundation supports research that demonstrates a clear link to anthropological theory and debates, and promises to make a solid contribution to advancing these ideas. There is no preference for any methodology, research location, or subfield. The Foundation particularly welcomes proposals that employ a comparative perspective, can generate innovative approaches or ideas, and/or integrate two or more subfields.

Fejos Postdoctoral Fellowships in Ethnographic Film support the completion of ethnographic film/s based on anthropological research already accomplished by the applicant. Fellowships are awarded to scholars in the earlier stages of their careers, when they frequently lack the time and resources to develop their research in the form of ethnographic film. Scholars who have received a Ph.D. or equivalent within ten years of the application deadline are eligible to apply. A maximum of four full Fejos Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded annually.

The National Housing Strategy Demonstrations Initiative (Demonstrations) provides a platform to:

• create and disseminate real-world data and information on affordable housing
• demonstrate innovative solutions that aim to improve the performance, viability and effectiveness of affordable housing solutions
• foster a culture of innovation in the affordable housing sector that will better meet the housing needs of Canadians

The Demonstrations initiative offers solutions aiming to:

• strengthen, better equip and innovate the affordable housing sector
• increase stakeholder’s awareness, knowledge and acceptance of promising innovations

Demonstration formats include on-site tours, virtual tours, best-practices guides, case studies, factsheets, website content, user experience videos, surveys and innovation profiles.

Ontario Genomics is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Industry Challenge 2020 Program: Healthy Lives, Healthy Economy, Healthy Planet through Genomics. This program will provide teams with funding for novel and innovative projects to solve pressing challenges and address industry opportunities through the application of genomics-based solutions across key sectors of the Ontario economy with the intent to drive economic growth, improve quality of life and Ontario’s global leadership.

Ontario Genomics is issuing an “Open Call for Challenges” for genomics and engineering biology innovators to solve industry and other end-user identified challenges within and across agriculture and agri-food, human health, industrial biotechnology and natural resources and the environment in one or more of the five areas identified below.

• Sustainable Food and Biomaterials Production
• Rapid Genomic Diagnostics in Healthcare, Food Safety & Agriculture, and the Environment
• Biomanufacturing and Scale Up from the Lab to the Factory
• Roadmaps for Reducing Red Tape, Regulatory Burden or other Barriers
• New Paradigms for Rare Disease Treatment

The Industry Challenge 2020 Program intends to catalyze and support collaboration in the application of genomics and engineering biology solutions to solve challenges identified by industry. This “industry-pull” approach is designed to enable market-informed outcomes and maximize the impact of these projects. This program is open to creative partnerships and collaborative teams (e.g. teams comprising industry, industry-academia, industry—industry, industry-other) that are in the position to address the identified challenge or opportunity and implement the results from the project.

The purpose of this communication is to solicit proposals from eligible individuals or members of groups or research institutions for research related to the relationship between oral and systemic health and reliable and evidence-based key statements defining the nature of such a relationship.

The Promotion of Care Task Force (Task Force) was created by the Canadian Dental Association (CDA) as part of a broader Future of the Profession initiative, a ‘call to action’ to Canadian dentists and which aims at providing optimal oral health care to everyone in Canada while ensuring that dentistry remains a valuable and rewarding profession. The Task Force seeks to determine the nature of the connection between oral and system health and to create a succinct understanding of the relationship. The results of this research can then be used to better communicate this relationship to members of the profession and the public.

The attached RFP includes the background, objectives, purpose, statement of work, application requirements, selection criteria, deliverables and submission timelines that should be respected.

CDA requests that proposals be submitted by midnight (Eastern Time) on Friday, March 13, 2020, to the address provided on the RFPs. Details on the decision timeline and methodology are also included in the RFP.
