Voluntary Sector Outreach Award 2019

Eligibility: 

For an application to be eligible:

  1. The applicant organization must be a registered charity or non-profit in Canada with alignment to one of the CIHR-IA Strategic Research Directions.
  2. Eligible organizations include all non-profit groups, health charities, non-governmental health policy regulators, and foundations.
  3. Academic researchers, public and private sector organizations may participate in the projects, however the nominated principle applicant must be from the voluntary sector.
  4. Applications can be submitted by a single eligible organization or in partnership.
How to Apply: 

The CIHR Institute of Aging Voluntary Sector Outreach Award is a knowledge translation award that recognizes and supports up to two exceptional groups working in non-profit and voluntary sector in their knowledge translation efforts in the area of aging.

The CIHR Institute of Aging is dedicated to fostering excellence and innovation in the area of aging research, and to catalyzing the application of research findings to policies, practices and programs that provide real-world benefit. The Institute aims to position Canada as a global leader in ensuring that initiatives designed to improve the health of older adults take advantage of timely research evidence.

Canadian Blood Services Intramural Research Grant Program Competition

How to Apply: 

Canadian Blood Services is pleased to announce its 2020 Intramural Research Grant Program Competition. The objective of the Intramural Research Grant Program is to support collaborative research projects that will generate knowledge and lead to new discoveries that will improve the safety and efficacy of blood products and the blood system in general.

 

Applications are welcomed from project teams led by an investigator affiliated with a Canadian academic program as a faculty member. Project teams must be composed of at least two investigators (including the Principal Investigator) and at least one of the investigators must be affiliated with Canadian Blood Services as a scientist, medical officer/director/consultant, or adjunct scientist.

Fellowship : LLSC/CIHR Clinician Scientist Fellow Award

How to Apply: 

The intent of the Clinician Scientist Fellow Award is to encourage early-stage specialist clinicians to pursue a career in blood cancer research. The award is specifically targeted at Doctors of Medicine (MDs) near, or recently at, the completion of specialty training in hematology, oncology, hematopathology, pathology, or other related disciplines and who have initiated or have immediate plans to begin supervised research training directed at blood cancers.

Genomic Applications Partnership Program (GAPP)

How to Apply: 

The Genomic Applications Partnership Program (GAPP) funds downstream research and development (R&D) projects that address real world opportunities and challenges defined by “Receptor” organizations such as industry, government, or not-for-profit entities. These organizations should have the expertise, resources and commitment to commercialize or implement the outcomes of the project. Projects must be active collaborations between the Receptor organization (Canadian or international) and a Canadian academic researcher. Both must play an integral role in the project. These projects are co-funded by Receptors and other stakeholders and must have the potential to generate significant social and/or economic benefits for Canada. The GAPP aims to:

  • Accelerate the application of Canadian genomics-derived solutions from academia to real-world opportunities and challenges defined by industry, not-for-profit and public-sector Receptors.
  • Channel Canada’s genomics capacity into sustainable innovations that benefit Canadians.
  • Enhance the value of Canadian genomics technologies by de-risking and incentivizing follow-on investment from industry and other partners.
  • Foster mutually beneficial collaboration and knowledge exchange between Canadian academia and technology receptors.
