CHS Research Grants: Call for Applications
Bleeding Disorders Canada, formerly the Canadian Hemophilia Society (CHS), is proud to announce its call for applications for its research programs for the 2026–2027 grant period.
The Canadian Hemophilia Society became Bleeding Disorders Canada in July 2026. During this transition period, research grant documents may include references to both Bleeding Disorders Canada and the Canadian Hemophilia Society (CHS) as we update our materials to reflect our new name.

DREAM OF A CURE
The CHS provides scientific research grants and studentships aimed at developing treatments for hemophilia A and B, von Willebrand disease, rare factor deficiencies, and platelet function disorders.
Individual grants valued at $75,000 per year and per project will be awarded to researchers for a maximum of $150,000 which can be expended over 2 or 3 years.
Grants will also be available for Canadian medical or science students for up to 4 months, for a maximum stipend of $6,000 each.
Examples of previous research awarded include: Human Endometrial Endothelial Cells (HEECs): A novel cellular method for understanding the pathophysiology of heavy menstrual bleeding in von Willebrand Disease by Dr. Mackenzie Bowman & Dr. Paula James

PFIZER CARE UNTIL CURE RESEARCH PROGRAM
In partnership with Pfizer, the CHS provides research grants to Canadian investigators to conduct research on medical and psychosocial aspects of bleeding disorders, including hemophilia, people with von Willebrand disease or other inherited bleeding disorders, people with related conditions such as HIV or hepatitis C infection, and carriers of an inherited bleeding disorder.
Individual grants valued at $75,000 per year and per project will be awarded to researchers for a maximum of $150,000 which can be expended over 2 or 3 years.
