Canada Postdoctoral Research Award (SSHRC)

How to Apply:

The Canada Postdoctoral Research Award program recognizes and empowers the next generation of outstanding innovators, knowledge workers, creative thinkers and researchers at a pivotal time in their careers.

Faculty members who will be supporting a candidate for a CPRA should be aware of the following as well: Candidates who are successful in securing a CPRA are considered by Lakehead University as being postdoctoral award recipients.

For postdoctoral fellow award recipients, in addition to the PDF award fellowship, Mandatory Employment Related Costs (MERCs) in the amount of 2.5% must also be paid.  However, please note that paying the 2.5% from the fellowship itself is not allowed in the case of Tri-agency postdoctoral awards and in such cases, the required 2.5% must be covered by the Lakehead supervisor using an eligible grant, or another source.  Therefore, Lakehead University faculty members should be aware of this potential commitment/cost when agreeing to take on a CPRA applicant.
