Impact of Fuel Selection During Live Fire Training on Firefighter Exposures to Carcinogens

Specific Priorities grants support research to address operational need and help answer key questions in occupational health and safety and workers' compensation. The purpose of this RFP is to solicit research proposals relating to the impact of Class A and Class B fuel types during live fire training on firefighter exposures to carcinogens.

Please be advised that a revised version of WorkSafeBC’s 2026 Specific Priorities Request for Proposals, Impact of fuel selection during live fire training on firefighter exposures to carcinogens, has been posted.
 
In the previous version, the Funding and Duration section stated:
“Due to operational need for this research, applications to this Specific Priorities grant must adhere to a maximum project timeline of six months.”
 
The revised version now states:
“Multi-year projects with reporting and annual deliverables will be considered, to a maximum of three years.”
