Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI)

How to Apply:

The call has now opened for faculty proposals to the 2027 cohort of Mitacs Globalink Research Internships, with a June 10, 2026 deadline.  ALL DISCIPLINES are eligible.

Mitacs GRI research internships are fully paid by Mitacs for top undergraduate students to participate in research with Canadian professors.  Placements must begin between May 1 and July 31 and run for 12 weeks.

The list of eligible countries for student applications has grown (newly added countries are bolded):  Austria, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Jordan, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States.

Student applications typically open in early August. Applicants select projects of interest and are matched with professors. If a researcher's project is approved, they will be invited to interview and rank the top applicants to their project. If researchers have collaborators in an eligible country/institution, they may encourage their undergrads to apply, however they will go through the same selection process as everyone else.

Please see the call page and attached call announcement.  The application is submitted online, however here is attached a printout of the Proposal section so that researchers can preview the substantive part of the application. Researchers may submit more than one project, or even resubmit a previous year's project.

If researchers have any questions, they can contact Jill Sherman, International Research Faciliator at intl.research@lakeheadu.ca
