Controlled & Targeted Substances


  • "Controlled Substance" means a substance included in Schedule I, II, III, IV or Vof the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.
  • Authorised Inspectors may enter hospital premises to ensure compliance with the regulations, and may for that purpose do several things, including opening boxes containing controlled substances, using computers containing data related to the controlled substances, take advertising material, make copies of stuff, and seize controlled substances.   • According to the Benzodiazepines and Other Targeted Substances Regulations, "Targeted Substance" means 
    • a controlled substance included in Schedule 1, or a product or compound that contains the controlled substance; or

    • in respect of a midwife, nurse practitioner or podiatrist, a controlled substance included in Schedule 1, or a product or compound that contains the controlled substance, that the midwife, nurse practitioner or podiatrist may prescribe, possess or conduct an activity with, in accordance with section 3 of the New Classes of Practitioners Regulations.
