Tri-Agency grants are now evaluated on the researcher’s ability to incorporate Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) within their research plan. This workshop will provide researchers with an overview of the best practices and strategies for successfully developing an EDI plan for grant applications. Researchers will learn a framework for thinking about EDI in research and connect EDI with various parts of grant proposals. The workshop will also include interactive examples and a chance for researchers to ask questions.
Researchers who attend this workshop will be able to:

• Understand how EDI is related to research
• Learn how to implement EDI practices within their research plans and grant applications
• Gain valuable resources (both internally and externally) that will aid them in developing an EDI research plan

Attending and participating in this workshop is a prerequisite course for researchers who wish to complete the Lakehead University Certificate in Inclusive Research Leadership Program.

This workshop will provide an overall of our internal CFI competition for interested applicants.

As you start your research career at Lakehead University, it’s important to know that you are not alone. In this session, you will learn strategies from experienced faculty members about how to get your program of research started.

You will learn about the expectations of Promotion, Tenure, and Renewal and how to cultivate a peer support system and reach out to peer mentors. Finally, you will develop strategies to balance the demands of teaching, research, and service.

The webinar will provide a brief overview of some of the international research funding opportunities available to Lakehead Faculty members, for all disciplines. Funded mobility opportunities will also be explored.

Jill Sherman is the International Research Facilitator in the Office of Research Services. She works with international research funding opportunities and pre-award support, partnerships and collaboration development, and student and faculty mobility opportunities.

This session aims to provide researchers with insights into the NSERC Discovery Grant program. We will outline the primary components of a Discovery application (Proposal, HQP Training Plans, Demonstration of Research Excellence), and discuss how these components are adjudicated by review committees. Applicants will also have an opportunity to ask questions about the application requirements and the submission process.
