Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for a Contract Lecturer in the Department of Biology. Applications are requested to teach:
BIOL 2230 WA – Cell Biology – Lecture and Lab
Study of the molecular, metabolic and structural organization of eukaryotic cells in relation to function: membrane structure, transmembrane transport and membrane-bound compartments in cells, bioenergetics in mitochondria and chloroplasts, functions and trafficking of proteins, vesicular traffic and secretion, cytoskeleton and cell movement, extracellular matrix and cell adhesions, introduction to cell signaling. Experimental evidence for the concepts studied and principles of techniques used in cell biology research.
Start Date/Duration: January 2026 – April 2026
Lecture - Mondays and Wednesday - 5:30 – 7:00PM
Lab – Friday – 2:30-3:30PM
BIOL 3711 WA – Pathogenic Bacteriology – Lecture
An introduction to pathogenic mechanisms of bacterial pathogens. Selective pathogens will be used to illustrate pathogen-host interactions. A general introduction of host responses to bacterial infections.

Qualifications Preferred: Ph.D. preferred and experience in teaching
Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of course delivery is highly desired. Please send a cv, brief description of the syllabus and assessment/marking scheme with the application.
The ideal candidate will possess an appropriate combination of both academic and professional experience in a field related to the course. Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is preferred, and experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired. The Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies values and respects Indigenous traditional learning and knowledge and embraces various forms of teaching and learning where appropriate. Consequently, for Indigenous content focussed courses we will prioritize knowledge of Indigenous languages, community-based learning, and traditional knowledge above academic credentials, in the selection of candidates. For graduate courses, preference may be given to candidates who hold a PhD, or are working towards a PhD, combined with relevant professional experience.
