Gerontology 1110 FDE: Aging, Health, and Well-Being – 0.5 FCE
Students will be introduced to interdisciplinary theories and concepts related to aging, gerontology, health, and wellbeing; an overview of population aging, the aging process (physiological, psychological, behavioural, social), and the ways in which culture, society, politics, and systems impact perceptions and experiences of aging, health, and wellbeing.

Health Sciences 5013 FDF: Social and Ecological Determinants of Health – 0.5 FCE
An intensive and critical introduction to the range of social and ecological determinants of health. Students will have a better understanding of how these factors alone and in interaction with one another affect individual, community, and population health.

WINTER 2027
Gerontology 1130 WDE: Aging in Canada - 0.5 FCE
As Canada is an aging society, there is a growing interest in the phenomenon of aging from a variety of perspectives. Issues relevant to older people and the society at large are examined, such as: implications of population aging; myths and realities of aging in Canada; attitudes and ageism; aging and ethnicity; elder abuse; work, retirement and economic security; living arrangements; leisure and recreation; health care system and policy making; and successful aging in Canada.

Health Sciences 5213 WDF: Environmental & Occupational Health - 0.5 FCE
Students are provided with a general introduction to the environmental and occupational aspects of Public Health. Sample topics to be covered may include toxicology, risk assessment, and human influences on Public Health through development, pollution, and climate change. Aspects particularly relevant to the northern context will be emphasized.

Qualifications Preferred: Master’s Degree in a health-related discipline; preference will be given to doctoral-prepared candidates. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level and online delivery are required. Experience with experiential learning is highly desired.
Compensation
In accordance with Collective Agreement provisions, Contract Lecturers shall be remunerated at one of the three following levels:
Level 1: $8,355
Level 2: $8,590
Level 3: $9,059
