Course Description: This seminar course prepares students in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences (Nursing, Kinesiology, Social Work, Psychology) for academic success through a multidisciplinary and skills-based approach. Students will strengthen core competencies in academic writing, research, critical thinking, and citation, while also developing interpersonal and professional skills such as time management, conflict resolution, collaborative learning, and goal setting. Emphasis is placed on academic integrity, interdisciplinary engagement, and the ethical use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. Small group discussions and real-world topics provide a foundation for confident, effective participation in the university learning environment.

Course Learning Outcomes: By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate effective academic writing, research, and citation practices in accordance with standards of academic integrity.
  2. Apply interdisciplinary approaches to analyze real-world issues relevant to the health and behavioural sciences and broader societal contexts.
