“Over the last two years, I completed a Master of Public Health with a gerontology specialization at Lakehead University. At last, I can finally say that I am done with school (at least for the foreseeable future), and I have achieved the graduate student dream – getting a job right after completing the program. I am currently working a full-time contract position as a Health Promotion Planner at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit. Without the education I received throughout my MPH and the support I always received from Dr. Elaine Wiersma, I do not believe I would be where I am today. In particular, my practicum experience ultimately set me up for success in my current position. I completed my practicum at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, where I was responsible for learning and working in the Health Promotion Planner position. I am so happy with the whole MPH experience at Lakehead University, and I know this program is designed for students to learn, get experience, and achieve their dream job in public health.”
