Lakehead academic English program was the first class I took in my first year before I enrolled in MBA and it was by far the most useful. It has noticeably improved both my writing and speaking skills. The program teaches us how to properly write summaries and how to structure essays within the grateful experiences I had in the AEP class. I followed the amicable and joyful atmosphere to learn, to research and cite sources properly, and even how to use appropriate and effective grammar.

My name is Juan Carlos Montufar, I am from Ecuador and I am studying  the English Program at Lakehead University. You can do anything to learn inside and outside the classroom when you practice English with other people. My favourite thing about learning English here at Lakehead is the experience of the teachers. They have more than 10 years of English experience and that is very good.

It was a unique experience for me to study in the AEP program during the 4 months. Literally, the AEP program has far exceeded my expectations as it is not just an academic program imparting my professional language skills but also leading me to emerge into the life of North American. Even though I was in pain as I felt extremely home-sick when landing in the area of Canada at the beginning, I felt so warm and belonged as time passed by in the International Language Centre.

Besides the huge popularity that LU has, what got our experience to a whole different level was the attention and the importance given to every single international/national student. They made us feel not only part of the University but part of Canada, with all the trips and activities planned, they just made us live the complete experience.

I am glad to have shared this time with everyone—my classmates and teachers. I enjoyed being with them because they made me feel welcome and appreciated. I am grateful to Ms. Tamara; thanks to her, I learned and made progress, and I hope to continue to the next level to learn and enjoy even more.

Time flies. Before I knew it, I graduated from the Language Centre. I'm so grateful to have met so many amazing friends here. We studied together, went hiking, and spent an unforgettable summer in Thunder Bay. Every laugh, every adventure, and every moment we shared made this journey truly special.

These precious memories will stay with me for a lifetime. Thank you to everyone who made this experience so meaningful. I wish you all the very best in the next chapter of your lives.

You're never the same after returning from a trip. I want to thank all the staff at ELC for guiding the trip and making it a wonderful experience. The center is like a big family, and that is exactly how they treat you. Furthermore, the academic approach and the teachers are top-notch. It was the right choice. My best wishes for the future.

This semester at Lakehead ELC has been a great experience for me. I improved my English skills, especially in speaking and writing, and I became more confident using English every day. My teacher were supportive, and I enjoyed meeting classmates from different countries and learning about their cultures. I also learned new study skills that will help me in my future education. I am thankful for this opportunity and the wonderful memories I made at Lakehead.

These past two months have passed in a heartbeat. There have been moments full of joy, but also difficult times. The lonely nights have made me deeply miss my family and the comfort of home, but I know that the immense effort of being so far away has a clear purpose.

Thank God, the author of my dreams, and my parents, for their love and sacrifice that made this unforgettable academic experience at Lakehead University and Thunder Bay, Canada, possible. I take with me beautiful memories of this wonderful place.
