Lakehead University’s English Language Centre offers a homestay program for international students enrolled in English Language Centre programs. 

The Homestay program matches students with caring families in Thunder Bay and Orillia who welcome students into their families and into their homes. Homestay provides an immersive opportunity to experience life in Canada and build relationships with locals. 

• The cost is $1000/month with three meals per day, $800/ month without meals, $400 one time placement fee.  (Starting January 2026)

• Regular communication with the Homestay Coordinator & 24 Hour emergency number
