Homestay Student Information & Application

Lakehead University’s English Language Centre offers a homestay program for international students enrolled in English Language Centre programs. 

The Homestay program matches students with caring families in Thunder Bay and Orillia who welcome students into their families and into their homes. Homestay provides an immersive opportunity to experience life in Canada and build relationships with locals. 

  • The cost is $800 with meal plan, $575 without meal plan
  • Social events
  • Regular communication with the Homestay Coordinator & 24 Hour emergency number
(Attention: starting in the fall semester, the Homestay fee will be as follows: $900 with meal plan, $675 without meal plan)

Host Family Information & Application

Lakehead University’s English Language Program is looking for caring Homestay hosts for international students. There are a variety of hosting opportunities with start dates throughout the year.

  • Competitive compensation rates $800 with meal plan, $575 without meal plan
