Reading 1 - Gilliland 2010

Reading 2 - Randall & Baetz - 2015

Dr. Todd Randall is an associate professor in Lakehead’s Department of Geography and the Environment and the current Dean for the Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies. His academic training was in Physical Geography (BSc from UBC in 1992; MSc from McMaster University in 1995) and Civil Engineering (PhD from McMaster University in 2002) and he has been registered as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) since 2006. First appointed to Lakehead University in 2002, he was tenured in 2008, served as the Departmental Chair for two years immediately prior to being appointed as the Acting Dean of SES in 2014. His dissertation research on suburban retrofitting involved components of human geography and urban planning as well as transportation and environmental engineering. His continuing main areas of research expertise relate to Sustainable Urban Development and Residential Neighbourhood Design and the metrics by which we can assess improvements towards a more environmentally sustainable condition. Several of these metrics use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Dr. Randall has mentored a significant number of senior undergraduate students (>20) on related topics.
