Biography

Principal - Dr. W. Dean Jobin-Bevans

Dr. W. Dean Jobin-Bevans received his musical education at the University of Toronto obtaining a Bachelors Degree in History and Literature of Music, and at McGill University where he completed both a Master and Doctorate degree in music performance (choral conducting).

Prior to joining Lakehead University in August 2005, Jobin-Bevans held positions as the Development and Alumni Relations Officer for the Faculty of Music (currently the Schulich School of Music, McGill University) and Director of the McGill Conservatory of Music.

During his 12 years as a faculty member at Lakehead Thunder Bay, Jobin-Bevans taught as an Associate Professor in the Department of Music, and occupied several administrative positions, including; the Chair of the Department of Music, Assistant Dean, Acting Dean and Interim Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. 

Dr. Jobin-Bevans' research interests include, the choral music of Benjamin Britten, music and liturgy of the English Reformation, and the original choral music of Henry Aldrich (1648 - 1710), Dean of Christ Church, Oxford, a research project in partnership with the Music Library of Christ Church, Oxford (http://www.chch.ox.ac.uk/library-and-archives/henry-aldrich-project).

 


 

The Principal of Lakehead Orillia reports to the President of the University and is responsible for overseeing academic and administrative operations at the Orillia campus, ensuring alignment with the University’s strategic and academic plans. The Principal represents a key link between the Orillia campus and the University’s leadership and is responsible for ensuring the effective integration of all University activities. 

Working collaboratively with the University’s executive team, the Principal represents Lakehead University in Simcoe County and supports the University’s international and economic development initiatives.
