About Dr. Linda Rodenburg
Biography
Dr. Linda Rodenburg is a founding faculty member at the Orillia campus, joining the Lakehead team as an English professor when the campus opened in 2006. She is passionate about community and committed to Lakehead’s vision to provide a transformative university experience accessible to all who choose to be lifelong learners.
Linda has a long history with Lakehead, earning her Honours Bachelor of Arts in English concurrently with her Bachelor of Education degree in 1999. She completed her Masters in English at the University of Guelph before traveling to New Zealand to complete her PhD at the University of Otago on a Commonwealth Scholarship.
At Lakehead, Linda has taught courses in English and Interdisciplinary Studies, and her research has focused on Indigenous and Māori stories in relation to the Nation. She is particularly interested in how stories construct a sense of culture within a place.
Linda is committed to lifelong learning, and enabling access to educational opportunities through various pathways. She has spearheaded Humanities 101 on the Orillia campus, as well as established Third Age Learning Lakehead (TALL) and numerous opportunities for both elementary and high school students to feel at home at Lakehead.
She lives in Orillia with her husband, Chris, their children Evie and Scott, and their puppy, Coco.
The Principal of Lakehead Orillia reports to the President of the University and is responsible for overseeing academic and administrative operations at the Orillia campus, ensuring alignment with the University’s strategic and academic plans. The Principal is also responsible for the delivery of the Lakehead Orillia Campus Outlook that can be viewed at www.lakeheadu.ca/orilliaoutlook.
Working collaboratively with the University’s executive team, the Principal represents Lakehead University in Simcoe County and supports the University’s international and economic development initiatives.
