Jan 28	Possible Phone Scam (Thunder Bay) There have been some reports of suspicious calls being made in the name of Lakehead University to the Thunder Bay community. Lakehead U is currently conducting a phone campaign; however, these reported "scam" callers are asking for personal information (Social Insurance Number, annual income, etc.), which Lakehead's legitimate callers do not require.

Jan 27	Learning a New Language at Lakehead U Now Easier (Thunder Bay) Lakehead University's Department of Languages has opened a new languages laboratory which will make learning a new language much easier. The Sanako Lab 300, equipped with an information and communication manager and a Computer Supervisory System network, has been installed in the Language Lab (Braun Building, Room 2001).

Jan 18	Lakehead University, City of Orillia Approve Partnership to Develop Satellite Campus in Orillia (Thunder Bay) Lakehead University and the City of Orillia are pleased to announce that an agreement in principle has been reached to develop a satellite campus of the University in Orillia. Such a collaboration would offer, initially, academic courses and programs that can be partnered with Georgian College; would respond to the City of Orillia's interests in international studies, aboriginal studies, and tourism; and are linked to the distributed learning capacity of Lakehead University's Thunder Bay campus.
Jan 13	Lakehead University President Term Extended (Thunder Bay) Jackie Dojack, Chair of the Board of Governors of Lakehead University, today announced the renewal of the contract of Dr. Frederick Gilbert, President of Lakehead University. The unanimous vote of confidence by the Board of Governors extends Dr. Gilbert's current contract, which was due to be completed on December 31, 2006, to May 31, 2010.

Recently, the Arthur Mauro Challenge was announced, in which Arthur Mauro will match any donation made to the ATAC ~ Future of the North Capital Campaign by members of the Italian community, up to $150,000.
Dec 21	Thunderwolves Hockey to be Broadcast Live on TBT (Thunder Bay) Lakehead University and Dougall Media are pleased to announce an exciting new television broadcast partnership that will give Thunderwolves' hockey fans across Northwestern Ontario and around Canada the chance to watch exciting live Thunderwolves hockey. Dougall Media will broadcast select home games from the Fort William Gardens on Thunder Bay Television CTV-CHFD television. The games will be available throughout TBTV-CHFD's broadcast footprint, including nationally via Bell Express Vu and Star Choice satellite television networks.

Lakehead University first-year Political Science students have conducted a Canadian federal election voter's intentions survey of post-secondary students.
Dec 2	Alumni, Students Pitch in to Raise Funds for Lakehead U (Thunder Bay) Lakehead University students and grads are working together to help raise money and foster a sense of pride in the University. The Annual Fund Co-chairs, Robert Mace, BAdmin '82 (Lakehead) MBA, and Ken Owen, BA'94 (Lakehead), are working with 18 current Lakehead students to call over 25,000 alumni to ask for their continued support in the University during this year's Annual Fund Phone-a-Thon.
