(Thunder Bay) Gord Miller, the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, will be the next guest for the Lakehead University Speaker Series. On Tuesday, March 29, Miller will be addressing environmental issues in Ontario and what the Government can do to help. His talk, entitled "Choosing our Legacy, Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, 2003-2004 Annual Report," will focus on one of the most significant environmental laws to be passed in the last 25 years --the Environmental Bill of Rights (EBR).

(Thunder Bay) Lakehead University is pleased to announce a new PhD-level program -- Doctor of Philosophy in Forest Sciences. This new doctoral program will be accepting students in September, 2005. Dr. Reino Pulkki, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and the Forest Environment, says that while this new program is hosted by the Faculty of Forestry, it is an interdisciplinary program with faculty from several academic units.

On Wednesday, March 16 at 7 p.m., the International Students Association will be having an "International Food Explosion Day" in The Study (University Centre above the Bookstore).

(Thunder Bay) The Lakehead University Outdoor Film Festival takes place on Wednesday, March 16. This festival features the work of Thunder Bay's film and video artists. There will be a variety of films capturing the lifestyles of outdoor enthusiasts.

(Thunder Bay) On March 9, 1995, students at Lakehead University took a gigantic step forward and opened the doors of The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Centre, a student resource centre focused on educating people on issues of homophobia and creating a safe space on campus for all students, staff, and faculty. Ten years have passed since, and the legacy lives on in Pride Central.

The Hangar houses an indoor running track, multi-purpose indoor field, aerobic/yoga studio, weight room and fitness center, climbing wall, student lounge, and a sports medicine clinic.

(Thunder Bay) Lakehead University and Confederation College, in co-operation with the Thunder Bay Human Resources Centre of Canada, are working together to reach potential employers of students and graduates. On Thursday, March 10, the University and College are conducting a free information session for employers who are considering hiring a student or graduate, and are also interested in wage subsidy/tax credit programs. The session can be attended in person or via a webcast to allow employers from across the region to attend.

This will be presented by a Lakehead University Geography Student, who is working on his student's thesis entitled "The Local Aesthetics of Wind Turbine Placement Surrounding the City of Thunder Bay."
