JUAN G. SANCHEZ MARTINEZ
I was born and raised in Muyquytá / Bogotá, the Colombian Andes. I identify myself as a mixed-race Andean person, and as a father, a husband, and a grandfather. As a poet, translator, and educator, I see my work at the convergence of creativity, Indigenous Science, and ceremony. I acknowledge I am a treaty person even if I come from far away. I feel honored to be able to support the Indigenous Learning Department, and to walk on the land of the Animkii Binesii, and the Animikii Waajiw First Nation.
