Dr. Pedram Fatehi Elected as 2026 IETI Distinguished Fellow

Dr. Pedram Fatehi, chemical engineering professor and director of Lakehead University’s Biorefining Research Institute, has been elected to the 2026 Class of Distinguished Fellows by the International Engineering and Technology Institute (IETI).

“I am delighted to be chosen as an IETI Distinguished Fellow. This election reflects Lakehead University’s expert teamwork and our success in promoting sustainability and responsible resource management,” Dr. Fatehi says. 

Dr. Fatehi was selected through a rigorous evaluation process that recognized his pioneering research in green technologies and his dedication to sustainable engineering. His internationally recognized research focuses on converting renewable biomass resources and industrial residues into high-value chemicals, functional materials, and environmentally responsible products—advancing the fields of green chemistry, biomass refining, wastewater treatment, and lignin valorization.
