About the Presentation

Dr. Karen McQueen, Associate Professor, will present on collaborative research of an innovative intervention to improve breastfeeding outcomes among first time mothers. The 4-site randomized controlled trial was conducted in Thunder Bay and the Greater Toronto Area. The presentation will focus on the intervention, methodology, findings, and their implications.

Dr. Karen McQueen, School of Nursing

Karen McQueen, RN, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at Lakehead University. She has extensive experience in the area of perinatal and women’s health as an educator, researcher and Registered nurse. Her research focuses on infant feeding among diverse populations including first-time mothers’ self-efficacy, individuals who use substances during pregnancy and those with perinatal mood disorders. Additional research includes qualitative exploration of the experience of sexual assault disclosure.
